STEER India: Day 11

Our last day in India flew by in the blink of an eye, as we came full circle to where we began. We spent the morning consolidating our takeaways from the trip, and discussed our plans for the future. No doubt the trip has been comprehensive and enriching in terms of the things we did and the places we went, and hence, there is value in carefully documenting what we learnt and the moments that mattered.

As a cessation to the trip, we spent the afternoon exploring one of the most modern places in India we had seen thus far - a shopping mall! For most of us, it was a fantastic opportunity for us to purchase some souvenirs/local consumables to bring back to Singapore for our families and loved ones. For others, it was an opportunity to indulge in guilt-laden fast foods that we had dearly missed from our protracted stay in India. Catching a movie in the India shopping mall is also surprisingly cheap as compared to cinemas in Singapore! Maline, Zi Rui and Yan En went to watch the same pixar movie as Dr Tan, but hilariously emerged from the cinemas with vastly different reviews of the same film. All in all, it was a relatively placid day, which gave us some time to rest and recharge for our imminent night flight.

We checked in at Ahmedabad Airport at 9pm, ahead of schedule. Going through the stringent security checks, we realised that reaching the airport 2 hours earlier in foreign countries is sometimes insufficient. Things went smoothly, and we boarded our flight SQ 531, heading back to Singapore. We touched down at seven AM on December 16, breathing in the fresh air of Singapore, our home.
