STEER India 2015; Day 1
After many weeks of anticipation and preparation, the STEER India 2015 participants finally set off from Changi Airport today!
"I think the camera is that way..." We gathered real early at the airport at 3.30pm, said our teary farewells and checked in to our flight SQ530. Everyone was excited at the prospect of visiting a country entirely foreign to most of us, for what it had to offer to us- enriching experiences and picturesque scenery.
Yi Jun(F): "I'm going to ask for beer immediately later" The flight we boarded, despite being delayed due to an ongoing tire-replacement, still managed to make up for lost time enroute to Ahmedabad and we reached in good time at about twelve AM India time.
Tummies stuffed with magnum ice cream and Indian delicacies (international cuisine, for some), 27 satisfied fans of Singapore Airlines boarded a bus to the hotel.
"The bus, is a bus!" To our surprise, the bus was fairly luxurious and better equipped than what we had expected. Along the way, the bus encountered a safety barrier which was too low for the vehicle to pass through and had to reverse a kilometre-long stretch of road.
Because, what are traffic rules Amazingly, the bus successfully pulled off a miraculous three-point-turn on the open road at the end of the stretch and we managed to get back on our way to the hotel. We arrived safely at Holiday Inn Express, Ahmedabad, past midnight. A quick debrief summed up the day before all STEER participants turned in for the night, sleeping with the assurance that better things are yet to come.
"We need to locate all the Star Wars Stormtroopers as soon as possible and take photos with them."
